Get It Global Strategically Chooses Locations for International Offices

Get It Global has established two strategic offices in China, the first in Shenzhen and the second in Hangzhou. These offices are located close to the manufacturing base while offering a ready access to talent and low overhead.

Promotional products are manufactured throughout China, but manufacturing is concentrated in a few key regions. The two predominant centers are Southern China, anchored by Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and Eastern China, centered between Shanghai and Ningbo.

Southern China, and particularly the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province, is the most important manufacturing center. From this area, historically the export engine of China's economy, come a variety of products: electronics, apparel, footwear, bags, toys, and a huge variety of plastic, metal, and other items. Hong Kong is the traditional gateway to this region, providing financial, technical, and human resources to fuel this export engine. In the last 10+ years - since Deng Xiaoping, China's architect of economic reform, made his "Southern tour" - the city of Shenzhen has grown rapidly. Located across the border from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, is closer to the action and much less costly than Hong Kong itself. In fact, the city holds a special status for manufacturing, trade, and investment. Shenzhen - with its deep water port, its downtown looking like a modern metropolis, and a beltway of factories along its Pearl River Delta - is the perfect place for sourcing in China. Providing access to a great pool of human resources, proximity to manufacturing, and a low cost structure, it is the ideal location for Get It Global's central overseas office.

The second most important region is Eastern China. Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, Shanghai is the center of this hub, just as Hong Kong is the center of the Southern hub. Stretching along the coast to the south of Shanghai, the cities of Hangzhou and Ningbo in Zhejiang Province are huge export centers. Hangzhou is very strong on bags and clothing, while Ningbo is well known for its small electrical devices. From this region also come a wide variety of plastics, writing implements, and other small items commonly used for promotional products and manufactured at very competitive prices. Both Shanghai and Ningbo also sport high-traffic, deep-water ports for convenient transportation. In addition, to the west and inland from Shanghai, the cities of Nanjing and Wuxi are powerful manufacturing centers. They export everything from bags and apparel to electronics and other items. To take advantage of this region's capabilities, Get It Global has established its second office in Hangzhou, strategically positioned for contacting factories in all of Eastern China. Hangzhou, home to one of the foremost universities in China, also offers a large pool of talented and educated Chinese people as well as a low cost structure.

Serving as the Office Manager for our Shenzhen Office, Guan Li was born into a prominent Shanghaiese family and raised in Chongqing, Sichuan, one of the most populous cities in China. She graduated from the leading Chongqing Foreign Language University, where she majored in English and international trade. She later obtained her certificate of accounting from Chongqing Treasury Bureau, one of the most rigorous certification courses in China.

Guan Li commenced her work in international trade even as China was just beginning to open its markets. She ran the Department of Imported Books and Audio Products for 10 years at the Chongqing Foreign Language Bookstore, one of the largest and most successful book dealers of its kind in China. Her merchandising skills and knowledge of import/export helped the Department become the most profitable in the store. She later worked at Guangdong Dixuanda Automobile Trading Co. as sales director and as a senior executive at Shenzhen Haiqin Construction Co. Guan Li owned her own diversified trading company, which traded in cassette tapes, shoes and garments, which she later sold to one of China's top trading companies.

Guan Li joined Get It Global's Shenzhen Office as Office Manager in September 2007. Since then, she has made a huge impact on our operations in China. She has overhauled and improved all the office operations, further reducing expenses and raising productivity. Using her contacts, she has expanded the office's factory network and implemented a supplier rating system and database. Employing a tough but fair approach to price negotiation, she has lowered purchasing costs for our customers. With her considerable management experience, Guan Li has recruited top-notch staff to work in the office, and redefined the roles and performance objectives of her employees, raising productivity and retention. Through the office's strategic sourcing objectives, formulated in conjunction with Get It Global's management team, Guan Li has strengthened our logistics function, allowing goods to move more quickly out of multiple ports in China at lower cost. As the China-based leader of our quality initiative, she has taken a pro-active approach to managing quality assurance, controlling the entire production process - including raw materials and parts subcontractors - and deploying the QC team. Finally, Guan Li continues to grow and refine the Shenzhen Office, while also managing the growth of our other Chinese offices and Get It Global's network of service providers and contractors.
